Finding Passion and Enthusiasm in Your Work
When you are doing a job that is in alignment with your interests and aptitude, you tend to be enthusiastic and passionate. It's that feeling of excitement and fulfillment that comes from doing something you truly enjoy. However, finding that passion and enthusiasm in your work may not always be easy.
As someone who has studied psychology and worked as a therapist for several years, I can relate to the initial excitement and passion that comes with pursuing a career in a field you are passionate about. I was fascinated by the human mind, understanding psychopathology, and the potential to help others improve their lives.
But as time went on, I realized that my enthusiasm started to wane. I began to question whether this was truly the right path for me. I discovered that while I was motivated to help others, I couldn't change anyone to become better against their will. This realization took a toll on my passion and drive for the work I was doing.
It's important to recognize that passion and enthusiasm can evolve over time. What once excited you may no longer ignite that same fire within you. And that's okay. It's a natural part of personal and professional growth.
Understanding Your Interests and Aptitude
One of the first steps in finding passion and enthusiasm in your work is to understand your interests and aptitude. What are the things that genuinely excite you? What are your natural strengths and talents?

After UCLA College of Letters where I obtained PhD is Philosophy, Psychology and Religion I got a teaching job at the University. I felt uneasy teaching. I applied for a job in the mental health field; I got many offers and within two years was running the mental health center where I worked, supervising psychologists and psychiatrists who have been in that field for many decades.
Eventually, I felt bored by the job (of been executive director...I was barely thirty two years old when I was the executive director of the largest mental health agency in the city where I lived) and quit and tried doing other things.
Nothing I tried worked out for me. So, I did other executive director jobs but eventually wound up quitting and returning to college teaching until I felt that teaching is too easy for me; I felt unchallenged being a college professor (I filled my time writing on assorted subjects that interested me).
Eventually, I realized that I have a destiny and fate. My normal routine is to read until I go to sleep (although there is a huge TV in the house, I seldom watch it) and get up around 5 AM, think for a while, and then go to my computer and type the thoughts that I just had in my sleep.
