Finding Love at University: My Journey from Shyness to Marriage
When I reflect on my time as a student at the University of California at Los Angeles, I can't help but smile at the memories that flood my mind. It was during those years that I experienced a transformative journey, not just academically, but also in matters of the heart.
Before entering university, I had never been in a relationship or experienced the intimacies of love. I was a shy individual, often hiding myself from the world and the potential for romantic connections. Little did I know that fate had something extraordinary in store for me.
As I settled into my new life at the university student residence, a girl started visiting me. At first, I was taken aback by her persistence. I didn't understand why she was so interested in getting to know me. But as she continued to push through my barriers, I realized that maybe, just maybe, there was something special about her.
Our encounters gradually evolved from casual conversations to deeper connections. We spent countless hours studying together, supporting each other through the challenges of university life. In those moments, I discovered not only the joy of learning but also the joy of companionship.
Weekends were reserved for exploring the vibrant cultural scene of Los Angeles. We immersed ourselves in the world of Shakespearean plays and attended mesmerizing orchestral performances. These shared experiences brought us closer, deepening our bond with each passing day.
Time passed, and our relationship blossomed into something beautiful. The initial hesitations and shyness were replaced with trust, understanding, and a love that I never thought possible. We became lovers, exploring the realms of physical intimacy together.
Fast forward to today, and I am grateful to say that we are now married with two wonderful boys. Our love story, which began in the halls of the University of California at Los Angeles, continues to thrive and evolve every day.
Looking back, I realize how much university shaped not only my academic and professional life but also my personal life. It was within those walls that I discovered the courage to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the possibilities that love had to offer.
University is often seen as a time of self-discovery, and my experience certainly attests to that. It is a time when we are exposed to new ideas, new people, and new experiences. It is a time to challenge ourselves and grow in ways we never thought possible.

After UCLA College of Letters where I obtained PhD is Philosophy, Psychology and Religion I got a teaching job at the University. I felt uneasy teaching. I applied for a job in the mental health field; I got many offers and within two years was running the mental health center where I worked, supervising psychologists and psychiatrists who have been in that field for many decades.
Eventually, I felt bored by the job (of been executive director...I was barely thirty two years old when I was the executive director of the largest mental health agency in the city where I lived) and quit and tried doing other things.
Nothing I tried worked out for me. So, I did other executive director jobs but eventually wound up quitting and returning to college teaching until I felt that teaching is too easy for me; I felt unchallenged being a college professor (I filled my time writing on assorted subjects that interested me).
Eventually, I realized that I have a destiny and fate. My normal routine is to read until I go to sleep (although there is a huge TV in the house, I seldom watch it) and get up around 5 AM, think for a while, and then go to my computer and type the thoughts that I just had in my sleep.
